The overall aims of the 'EUROHIP' cohort study are threefold:
1. to describe the amount of variation in disease severity at the time of primary total hip replacement in Europe;
2. to look for determinants of any variation;
3. to examine the effects of variations and their determinants on short-term (one year) patient centred outcomes
