To create a large prospective cohort designed specifically to investigate the association between lifestyle factors (specifically exogenous hormones and dietary habits) and cancer and cardiovascular disease in young women). Other outcomes have also been investigated, including overall mortality and psychiatric conditions.

- A follow-up questionnaire was sent in 2003 to all women still alive and residing in Sweden at that time. Beside the questionnaires, all participants are continuously monitored through linkage to Swedish registries on death, inpatient care and emigration.
